Week 1
Organizing Things into Categories
- A category includes two or more items that share a similarity or purpose; categories can be subdivided or combined.
- There is no single right way to organize. The system chosen depends on the purpose at hand.
- Organizing thoughts in our minds (mentally grouping information into categories) aids learning, recall, and understanding.
Supplies:
- There is an optional monster sorting worksheet (Categorizing Monsters) but you can also just pause and discuss it together
- You will need either the Writing Sheet for Memory Game or just paper and a writing instrument. There is nothing wrong with writing for your learner on this exercise.
At Home Practice
- Practice sorting an assortment of miscellaneous items from junk drawers and closets
